We're looking for a Medical Communications Specialist to join a specialist healthcare content team in a dual-focus role that combines early-stage project input with hands-on medical content development and translation.

This role would suit someone with around 3–4 years' experience in a medical communications agency, who enjoys being involved from the early stages of a project through to content delivery. It could suit an Account Manager or Senior Account Executive with strong content exposure, or a Medical Writer who enjoys contributing beyond writing alone.

The role

This is a blended role, sitting at the intersection of planning, collaboration and delivery.

You'll be involved early in projects, helping shape content direction and requirements, before moving into hands-on development, translation and review of medical communications materials.

• Contribute to pre-project phases, including research, content planning and scoping
• Translate medical and scientific content from English into Japanese, ensuring accuracy, clarity and appropriate tone
• Adapt translated content to suit different audiences while maintaining scientific integrity
• Develop and review medical communications materials across a range of therapy areas
• Work closely with cross-functional colleagues to align on objectives, timelines and outputs
• Review content to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency and compliance
• Manage multiple workstreams while maintaining high quality and attention to detail
• Operate confidently within a regulated healthcare communications environment

Language & communication

This role requires professional fluency in written and spoken Japanese and English. You will be translating and reviewing medical and scientific content, and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders in both languages.

Working arrangement

• Fully remote role
• Candidates based in the APAC region are preferred
• UK-based candidates will be considered, provided they are comfortable working to Japanese time zones

Contract details

About you

• Experience within a medical communications agency environment (essential)
• Around 3–4 years' experience in healthcare or medical communications
• Degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences, medicine, pharmacy or a related scientific discipline
• Proven experience working with medical or scientific content
• Strong attention to detail and confidence handling complex data
• Comfortable translating and adapting technical content between English and Japanese
• Organised, collaborative and confident managing multiple priorities
