So, What Exactly Is A beBEE Ambassador?

So, What Exactly Is A beBEE Ambassador?

Ok, I live for perhaps seven months of the year in Bali and for the remainder of the time I travel for both work or pleasure which really, when you think about it is really cool !

When management and I first moved to Bali It was I who was tasked with the responsibility of finding a place for her to rest her weary head (she is a hard working woman who supports a partner crippled by sloth) This tale can be found at ;

https://www.bebee.com/producer/hive/bebee-english/'when settling into a new house can sometimes involve inhaling the neighbors'.

Now, the rather salubrious neighborhood I 'found' is one that is rather favoured by the diplomatic corp. Mansions, surrounded by vast gardens seem to be the norm, and If I lie flat on top of the wardrobe in the attic and stick my head out of the tiny window above it I can get a rather splendid view of the German Consulate's back lawn.

It seems that, each and every week a huge marquee is erected, replete with tables and chairs covered in crisp white linen then bedecked with cutlery and fine crystal glasses. Liveried staff scuttle hither and thither adding delicate flower arrangements at each setting then stand to attention awaiting the arrival of the guests.

=
On time, said guests do indeed arrive amid a flurry of air kisses and robust handshakes,  then proceed to stand around making clever conversation while sipping copious amounts of vintage champagne. The gentlemen wear their tropical suits with ease while the women all seem to be decked out in the latest designer dresses direct from Paris, offset by their rather splendid hats.

baca1a9a.jpg

( My vantage point on top of the wardrobe, unfortunately, does not afford me a panoramic view of the entire proceedings, and often, all I can see is the string quartet playing something suitably classical)

The wardrobe space, can at times become unbearably hot after a while and leads me to ponder how I could procure a seat at one of those coveted tables.
Then, out of the blue late last year I happen to read one of Javier 's 🐝 beBee posts announcing the appointment of a clutch of new ambassadors and, to my surprise, there was my name on the list.
Oh, what Joy.!!  What bliss !!!!

The following couple of weeks flew by in a state of euphoria as I began to prepare for my ambassadorial duties.
First things first.

1e29ec2d.jpg

A suitable residence would need to be acquired befitting my elevated status within the community. I had my eye on a sprawling home with rolling lawns flowing effortlessly down a gentle slope to a private beach. A snip at $27 million.
A session with my tailor, whose instructions were to run up a dozen tropical suits in light colours using only fine linen that would give me that elegant,  'devil may care' look, suitable for greeting arriving guests to one of the weekly 'functions.'

9558ee1d.jpg
Naturally, business and calling cards would be de rigeur, my name and title embossed in a royal font and tinged with gold ink.
Staff would have to be hired; maids, footmen, drivers, security personnel and perhaps a valet would be necessary.

84778c8b.jpg

Finally, appropriate transport would be a must to carry me to other embassies and consulates on the island. A lovely maroon coloured Bentley I felt would be appropriate.  ( note to self; ask tailor run up a small beBEE flag to flutter on the front of the vehicle)

56b126fb.jpg
Naturally, all of these items were a little on the expensive side but really when one thinks about it,  an ambassador must live and indeed look ambassadorial.
I hurriedly totted up the setup costs which I did at the time think were on the high side but, really beBEE simply must be seen to be keeping up appearances. I crafted the letter carefully thanking beBEE management for entrusting me with such a prestigious appointment and laid out the required items needed ( complete with costs) so that I could perform at my very best.

The silence from Madrid was deafening!

After a week or two I contemplated sending off another email but held off, as really, I didn't want to appear too pushy!
When I hadn't heard anything the following week, I discreetly checked other ambassadors on the list, wondering about their ambassadorial perks. Ken Boddie Ken Boddie Pamela 🐝 Williams Lisa 🐝 Gallagher etc, seemed to be operating without these accoutrements and doing sterling work to boot.
It was at that point that the penny dropped and I returned to read the terms and conditions of my appointment.

Sigh!

So these days I do what beBEE ambassadors do, by recruiting bees, making honey and posting regular pieces and, to tell the truth, when I think about it, who would have driven me through the dreadful Bali traffic in a rather ostentatious Bentley.

Now, what to do with that little flag that would have fluttered away on the hood of the car!

Thank You so much Paul Walters , I've been going through the same dilemma over the past few weeks; what do I wear? what do I eat? What new acronyms will have to follow my name? (ending with the classical "Esq"). It's been a real turmoil boiling down to the bottom line of, "Oh shit, I just hope I don't fuck up!". Your post has eased my mind greatly, I'll be back on track and in the groove soon, (will be cancelling those extra appointments with my 3 therapists now and I think that Ian Weinberg will appreciate me not calling him at all hours of the night leaving inane voice messages). Thanks Buddy! :-)
Such a fun post, Paul Walters for mentioning it in his recent silly and fun post -- with that picture! Hmmmm. A beBee flag. That could be fun as well, and I never thought of it. Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee? Whaddya think?

I feel like I've wandered into Alice's tea party. Crazy Thought: Is there an entrepreneur in the house who could come up with beBee Ambassador flags for automobile at a reasonable price? I'd buy a pair. I keep envisioning them on all kinds of cars from ancient VWs to elegant Lamborghinis. Can you imagine the impact?

It actually stands for 'Why Drive' Ken Boddie and I just needed to look ambassadorial, hang out near where we met at the Zoo Lake (stone's throw from the Gupta compound) and 'whala' before we could say 'beBee' we had lit up the Dark Content in a golden honey hue!

Dean San as much as I love cars and know nothing about them. I doubt the Amby would survive a road trip.

I am planning to buy one Dean San when I go home now if I get a good one. Its about a 1000 to 1500 dollars or less an average one. But there'll be a alot of rework. I’m planning to exploit the services of a childhood mechanic friend for the remodelling 🤣😉 What are friends for?

Aww my favorite bee is here I agree with him on an Indian Amby instead and Paul Walters what happened to my application of enjoying the above said perks as your travel buddy ambassador 😉😉😉 I imagined how the royal font and tinged with gold ink on my business card would look and just love it. Perhaps a golden beBee symbol in the back or the top corner. Sighhh! Of all the above the business card is doable I guess?

[continued from below] Words of Discipline (what you may expect from Susan 🐝 Rooks, Grammar Goddess, if you don't carefully check your draft before publishing); or What's Doing (words of salutation for bees who don't fit into any of the previous fictional categories, such as Lisa \ud83d\udc1d Gallagher, and former bee DLE from T&T).

Ken Boddie

[continued from below] additional potential WD meanings: Whatever, Dude (to all the beBee ambassadors who are stately enough to remember the 70's, including perhaps Kevin Pashuk, and Franci🐝Eugenia Hoffman, beBee Brand Ambassador?); Windows and Doors (perhaps representing my engineer and architect friends, namely Lada 🏡 Prkic and Claire L Cardwell?); Walt Disney (perhaps a pseudonym for our head of studios, Javier 🐝 beBee?); Wooden Ducky (potentially a subject matter challenge set by Pascal Derrien, who frequently pushes the boundaries of story telling and gets us thinking outside the square); [continued above]

Further to my frugle Google bugle below, I forgot to add, Pak Paul, that I am curious about the number plate on your limousine of dream choice. Does the 1WD perhaps stand for, in no particular order, one of the following: Well Done (representing overcooked meat, perhaps ask Chef Randall Burns for how to avoid?); Well Developed (representing the excellent photos and logical plots meticulously posted by Dean Owen); War Department (could mention a few argumentative individuals here, but let's just defer this one to War of the Trolls); Wrist Disarticulation (may I suggest that you ask Dr Ian Weinberg what this means?); [continued above]
Nice pool. I think I'll just sit here in my bathtub with my beBee tattoo on my forehead, waving my little hand-held flag. Nice Buzz.

Very entertaining, Pak Paul! You did, however, get me thinking about what the hell we're actually doing as brand ambassadors here on beBee. My curiosity lead me, of course, to consult Dr Google, who came good with a compendium of unassociated jokes, quotes and tale after tale of reportedly 'true' activities undertaken by one US Ambassador or other. It appears that "US Ambassador" is much more newsworthy than any other form of ambassador on Google, including Social Media Ambassadors. If only a smidgeon of these US Ambassador stories are true, then the offices of the US President and the US Senate should be severely embarrassed .... but, there again, thinking over recent political activities, perhaps not. Incidentally, if you or anyone else reading this comment is looking for a serious answer to my initial question on beBee ambassadors, may I suggest that you look at this link which has some interesting depth to it: https://www.socialhp.com/blog/12-reasons-you-need-brand-ambassadors-now/

Paul Walters and I are at this moment having coffee and looking out over our latest ambassadorial perk: a game farm. This was included in our list, together with the mansion, the Bentley, the Land Rover and a lavish entertainment allowance. All were approved by beBee management when we submitted our claim...:)

Dean Owen Ah Dean san...he lives !!! I do indeed have a Panama and currently I bestride the streets of London ( actually I hobble as my leg is STILL ) encased in an unwieildy ' moon boot) wearing it with pride. The weather here for the last week or so has been glorious and sometimes altogether too hot even for a tropical veteran like myself. I am staying in Holland park which seems to be festooned with Embassies so I have dilligently making notes. Great to see you pop up and look forward to your next piece!

Ok, I'm naive.. you had me for a sec in the beginning. I thought you knew Robin Leach who used to showcase the lifestyles of the rich and famous. I.Cant.Stop.Laughing! Don't tell anyone but I do have a beBee Ambassador flag on my Subaru Forester and people revere me when they see me coming. All kidding aside, this was great/fun! Thanks for the mention, in good company!

You have all the attributes of a man who could well be ambassador for a smaller commonwealth country - smooth, suave, and sophisticated and with a healthy taste for the finer things in life. I am willing to wager you also have a Panama in your wardrobe. If they do come through with a budget, I suggest an Indian Amby. A Brit in a Bentley in the tropics shouts bank robber!

Any title is only as good as the man and in you and Dean Owen that is what gives that title meaning. One can change the future if one can live with the future. At a personal level beBee is first and foremost a learning journey for me and since you and Dean are the prime ambassadors of travel that is most akin to a metaphor of travel I use here, I likewise accord the title Brand Ambassador that extra special value it gets in knowing that you and Dean are Brand Ambassadors. Gravitas my friend, gravitas.
