So, What Exactly Is A beBEE Ambassador?
Ok, I live for perhaps seven months of the year in Bali and for the remainder of the time I travel for both work or pleasure which really, when you think about it is really cool !
When management and I first moved to Bali It was I who was tasked with the responsibility of finding a place for her to rest her weary head (she is a hard working woman who supports a partner crippled by sloth) This tale can be found at ;
Now, the rather salubrious neighborhood I 'found' is one that is rather favoured by the diplomatic corp. Mansions, surrounded by vast gardens seem to be the norm, and If I lie flat on top of the wardrobe in the attic and stick my head out of the tiny window above it I can get a rather splendid view of the German Consulate's back lawn.
It seems that, each and every week a huge marquee is erected, replete with tables and chairs covered in crisp white linen then bedecked with cutlery and fine crystal glasses. Liveried staff scuttle hither and thither adding delicate flower arrangements at each setting then stand to attention awaiting the arrival of the guests.
On time, said guests do indeed arrive amid a flurry of air kisses and robust handshakes, then proceed to stand around making clever conversation while sipping copious amounts of vintage champagne. The gentlemen wear their tropical suits with ease while the women all seem to be decked out in the latest designer dresses direct from Paris, offset by their rather splendid hats.
( My vantage point on top of the wardrobe, unfortunately, does not afford me a panoramic view of the entire proceedings, and often, all I can see is the string quartet playing something suitably classical)
The wardrobe space, can at times become unbearably hot after a while and leads me to ponder how I could procure a seat at one of those coveted tables.
Then, out of the blue late last year I happen to read one of
Javier 's 🐝 beBee posts announcing the appointment of a clutch of new ambassadors and, to my surprise, there was my name on the list.
Oh, what Joy.!! What bliss !!!!
The following couple of weeks flew by in a state of euphoria as I began to prepare for my ambassadorial duties.
First things first.
A suitable residence would need to be acquired befitting my elevated status within the community. I had my eye on a sprawling home with rolling lawns flowing effortlessly down a gentle slope to a private beach. A snip at $27 million.
A session with my tailor, whose instructions were to run up a dozen tropical suits in light colours using only fine linen that would give me that elegant, 'devil may care' look, suitable for greeting arriving guests to one of the weekly 'functions.'
Naturally, business and calling cards would be de rigeur, my name and title embossed in a royal font and tinged with gold ink.
Staff would have to be hired; maids, footmen, drivers, security personnel and perhaps a valet would be necessary.
Finally, appropriate transport would be a must to carry me to other embassies and consulates on the island. A lovely maroon coloured Bentley I felt would be appropriate. ( note to self; ask tailor run up a small beBEE flag to flutter on the front of the vehicle)
Naturally, all of these items were a little on the expensive side but really when one thinks about it, an ambassador must live and indeed look ambassadorial.
I hurriedly totted up the setup costs which I did at the time think were on the high side but, really beBEE simply must be seen to be keeping up appearances. I crafted the letter carefully thanking beBEE management for entrusting me with such a prestigious appointment and laid out the required items needed ( complete with costs) so that I could perform at my very best.
The silence from Madrid was deafening!
After a week or two I contemplated sending off another email but held off, as really, I didn't want to appear too pushy!
When I hadn't heard anything the following week, I discreetly checked other ambassadors on the list, wondering about their ambassadorial perks.
Ken Boddie Ken Boddie Pamela 🐝 Williams Lisa 🐝 Gallagher etc, seemed to be operating without these accoutrements and doing sterling work to boot.
It was at that point that the penny dropped and I returned to read the terms and conditions of my appointment.
Sigh!
So these days I do what beBEE ambassadors do, by recruiting bees, making honey and posting regular pieces and, to tell the truth, when I think about it, who would have driven me through the dreadful Bali traffic in a rather ostentatious Bentley.
Now, what to do with that little flag that would have fluttered away on the hood of the car!

It actually stands for 'Why Drive' Ken Boddie and I just needed to look ambassadorial, hang out near where we met at the Zoo Lake (stone's throw from the Gupta compound) and 'whala' before we could say 'beBee' we had lit up the Dark Content in a golden honey hue!

Now would be a great little project and a great car for a roadtrip as I suspect getting parts in case of a breakdown is pretty easy. I'm coming!

I am planning to buy one Dean San when I go home now if I get a good one. Its about a 1000 to 1500 dollars or less an average one. But there'll be a alot of rework. I’m planning to exploit the services of a childhood mechanic friend for the remodelling 🤣😉 What are friends for?

Aww my favorite bee is here I agree with him on an Indian Amby instead and Paul Walters what happened to my application of enjoying the above said perks as your travel buddy ambassador 😉😉😉 I imagined how the royal font and tinged with gold ink on my business card would look and just love it. Perhaps a golden beBee symbol in the back or the top corner. Sighhh! Of all the above the business card is doable I guess?

Paul Walters, I'm replying from my favorite chair in my home in Fort Collins, Colorado. It's almost 1AM here so this will be my final comment on beBee for the day. Until we meet again, I'm off to experience the original virtual reality, my dreams. Buenas noches!
