Position Summary:

The Chief Engineer is responsible for providing a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for guests and associates by ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and sustainability of all hotel facilities and assets. This role leads the Engineering Department during and after the hotel's conversion into Banyan Group, ensuring full compliance with brand standards, safety regulations, and operational excellence. As a key department head, the Chief Engineer plays a critical role in asset protection, preventive maintenance, and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Operations & Asset Management

• Lead and manage all Engineering Department operations, ensuring timely and effective maintenance of buildings, guestrooms, plant rooms, and equipment.
• Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs to maintain hotel assets in optimal condition.
• Respond promptly to guest requests and operational issues to ensure minimal disruption and high guest satisfaction.

Hotel Conversion & Brand Compliance

• Support the engineering transition during the hotel conversion, ensuring alignment with Banyan Group engineering standards, SOPs, and sustainability practices.
• Coordinate with Project Control Division (PCD) and external contractors for renovation, upgrading, and development works, ensuring quality and compliance with Group standards.
• Ensure all engineering documentation, manuals, drawings, and records are properly maintained and updated.

Safety, Security & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with local regulations, safety standards, fire life safety systems, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure a safe working environment for guests and associates at all times.

Energy Management & Sustainability

• Develop and implement energy conservation and sustainability initiatives to optimize utility consumption and reduce costs.
• Monitor utility usage and recommend efficiency improvements in line with Banyan Group sustainability principles.

Financial & Budget Management

• Prepare, manage, and control the annual Repair & Maintenance (R&M) budget.
• Monitor departmental expenses and inventory to ensure cost efficiency and budget compliance.
• Liaise with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of quality engineering supplies at competitive prices.

People Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, coach, and develop the Engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Prepare duty rosters, leave schedules, and manpower planning to ensure effective coverage.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and performance management processes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management within an international or branded hotel, with a preference for experience in the hospitality industry (Indonesia experience is a plus).
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
• Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer in a similar hotel environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire life safety, and building management systems.
• Solid understanding of local safety regulations and statutory requirements; Indonesia experience is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, operational environment.

• Full-time position, based at Angsana Gunung Geulis Bogor, Indonesia, a conversion property under Banyan Group.
