Tentang Nausheen Bhat:

I studied Bioinformatics at the Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences. During my time in university, I undertook Bioinformatics projects through internships and projects. To further my studies, I obtained a Masters of Research degree from University College London.  

My research interest includes evolutionary biology and phylogeny in particular, in which I can implement Bioinformatics tools and techniques to bring about a new approach to the current research and interpret genomic data for the lab. 

During my training, I have adopted Programming languages such as R and Python Programming. I have been learning Jupyter Notebook as a part of my Python skill set. Additionally, I have also worked with transcriptomic data management and analysis. For my wet laboratory skills, I have had training in conducting Behavioral assays (Drosophila), insect handling, PCR, Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and DNA extractions using different kits. I am very keen to learn more and implement works in the field of Bioinformatics for large scale genomic levels. 

Pengalaman

My work experiences include: 

  1. Visiting student at the Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo, as a part of my credit internship. Worked under the supervision of Prof. Naoki Irie, conducting bioinformatics approach on the developmental hourglass model. 
  2. Visiting student at the Imperial College London, under the supervision of Prof. Vania Braga, conducting Bioinformatics approach to quantifiably vizualize cell-cell adhesion and motion.
  3. Working as a marketing agent for PT. SIG, working towards the expansion team to expand the market reach of the company, focusing on certified testing of consumer goods.
  4. Research student at the Francis Crick Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Lucia Prieto Godino. Conducting fly based behavioural assay to understand evolutionary selective pressures of Drosophila erecta 
  5. Working as a Learning Support Assitant for the 6th form students at Chestnut Grove Academy, to help student with special needs into obtaining placements in Universities and working towards better scores for the National Examination.

My academic experiences include:

  1. Bachelors in Bioinformatics from Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (i3L). Thesis titled ‘A Novel Computational Approach towards Investigating the Regulation of Epithelial Cell Adhesion and Motility’ in collaboration with Imperial College London.
  2. Masters in Research in Biosciences from University College London (UCL). Thesis titled ‘Host fruit odours mediate attraction and oviposition in the specialist Drosophila erecta
